Injection Moulded Polyurethane (IMPU) & Glass Syntactic Polyurethane (GSPU)

IMPU is mainly used in Spoolbases and offshore pipelines to either infill concrete weight coat or where 3/5LPP is the parent coating.

IMPU offers both protection from impact as well as providing thermal insulating properties.

A similar type of material is Glass Syntactic Polyurethane (GSPU) which offers impact protection and thermal insulation but even greater UV values than IMPU.

Both materials are processed in a similar way using a low pressure two component pump drive system, these are injected into a “mould tool” that will usually sit around the parent coating. Some materials have curing times of less than 3 minutes, which coupled with a rapid process and application speed helps with reduced cycle times when offshore.

Injection Moulded Polyurethane

At Serimax FJC we have injection equipment that uses a “Data-Capture” system which allows for real-time monitoring of data for each moulding completed i.e. material mix ratio, temperature, pressure and more. An ever increasing requirement for both Client and Contractor QA/QC departments.
